Lhouette unveils ‘Angel Cake - A Fall from Grace’ as a monumental bronze sculpture, transforming one of the British contemporary artist’s most recognisable motifs into a major three-dimensional work.

Commissioned through Arkley Fine Art and produced in collaboration with internationally renowned fine-art foundry Pangolin Editions, the sculpture marks a significant evolution of Angel Cake from stencil and mixed-media artwork into large-scale contemporary sculpture.

THE BRONZE AGE.

The Angel Cake motif has been part of Lhouette's visual language for over 15 years, evolving from a simple spray-painted stencil into paintings, limited editions, sculptural wall reliefs and numerous mixed-media forms.

Over that time, Angel Cake has travelled internationally, with works and installations appearing at JFK Airport, Miami Art Fair and in private collections around the world.

A Fall from Grace represents a new chapter in that evolution. Reimagined in bronze, the familiar silhouette takes on an entirely different presence, retaining its playful Pop Art origins while introducing a sense of permanence, weight and monumentality.

The move into bronze gives the character an entirely new arena of play.

MADE IN BRITAIN

The life-size model was conceived, developed and constructed in-house at Lhouette Studios. An intricate patchwork of individually cut and layered stencils was used to reverse-engrave the sculptural detailing, translating the studio's signature stencil techniques into three dimensions.

The completed model was then supplied to Pangolin Editions in Gloucestershire, one of Britain's leading fine-art foundries, for specialist mould-making, bronze casting, finishing and patination.

With over three decades of experience, Pangolin has worked with some of the world's most recognised sculptors and contemporary artists, including Damien Hirst, Antony Gormley, Marc Quinn and Stik.

The project was commissioned through Arkley Fine Art, whose longstanding relationship with Lhouette Studios and support were instrumental in bringing this ambitious private commission to life.

Previous iterations of Angel Cake have ranged from geometric compositions to chaos-layered Pop Art collage. The bronze builds on that familiar visual language, introducing a more subversive undertone through sacred geometry, skeletons, fragments of text and symbols of life and mortality.

A fallen angel, stamped and imprinted by the modern world… a contemporary relic cast with the permanence of bronze.
